November 2022 Blog I can't believe that I'm already talking about and planning 2023!
"Guided wild camping in the Black Mountains" - Sept 2022" 2022 has been a strange year for M&L Outdoors and my own personal training... This year to date, Paul left the business partnership, my Paddy Buckley Round attempt came to a close 29km short of the finish (blog on the website) and the cost of living has reached insane levels. At first glance it all sounded a bit negative! BUT, looking at what's planned for 2023 has given me a chance to reflect on all of the positives that this year has provided as well:

M&L Outdoors now has a team of qualified mountain guides and coaches with some serious experience and accomplishments under their belts.
I ran a mountain marathon PB and bagged 11th out of 557 at the Snowdon Trail Marathon - a distance I don't even train for!
We are diversifying our offer as a business. Yes, we still have all of the hiking and running challenges, but we will also be delivering small group courses and potentially some coaching opportunities for mountain athletes as the year progresses.
Our new bank of male and female mountain guides means we have more capacity to offer small group private bookings for guiding, courses and expeditions.
I'm in the best shape I've ever been in, and have sights on a Fastest Known Time in the depths of winter in the Brecon Beacons. (This also means that Bryn the dog is in the best shape of his life and is now impossible to wear out *rod for own back*).
We've supported hundreds of people on their adventure journeys this year. From teaching navigation, guiding fell runs, expeditions and assessing DofE groups to supporting Fastest Known Time attempts and leading hiking challenges. It has been a fantastic year in the mountains.
The rest of the family are smashing their mountain adventures as well! My daughter is enjoying the junior fell race series, the little man is enjoying being carried up mountains and my wife Nicola is finding her feet running in the mountains.
So all in all, 2022 has actually been a pretty awesome year with us.

Moving forward - We have some availability throughout November and December for private guiding of hiking, fell running, navigation courses and overnight expeditions for both half and full days. If you're booking as a group of 4 or more, it will likely be more cost effective than booking onto one of our full price guided events AND we can tailor the day specifically to you/your group. Our events for the first half of 2023 are now live on the website and open for booking.
