Since 2018, Mahoney & Lane Outdoors have been providing guided hiking challenges, indoor climbing experiences, DofE expeditions and fell running in UK upland areas.

We are based in the incredible Brecon Beacons National Park and spend most of our time out hiking, running, climbing and cycling - always seeking a new adventure.

We love being able to take people to wild places, give new experiences and pass on skills - this was the foundation for starting our business.

M&L comprises of Brett Mahoney - a qualified Mountain Leader, Climbing Wall Instructor, Mountain Bike Leader, DofE Assessor and Paul Lane - qualified personal trainer, sports massage therapist, Iron Man completer and all around lover of the great outdoors.

This area of the website hopes to give clients a little taste of what we offer and our experience so you can rest easy knowing you are in our capable hands.

We hope to see you on an adventure with us soon!

I'm Brett and I like spending all day running in the mountains!

Throughout my late teens and adult life, I have explored the mountainous areas of the UK hiking, fell running and rock climbing while working my way to the completion of The Mountain Leader & Climbing Wall Instructor Qualifications (as well as ticking off a few Ultra Marathons along the way!)

After working as a Youth Worker, I spent 6 years delivering an Outdoor Education Programme & Qualification in an SEBD School - a very rewarding job that led to starting M&L Outdoors.

As well as running M&L Outdoors, I work for The Outdoor Partnership as Gwent Outdoor Activity Development Officer. The Outdoor Partnership is a registered charity that improves people's lives through outdoor activity.

The best thing about working in the outdoors for me, is giving people the opportunity to explore the beautiful places I've had the pleasure of exploring, teaching people new skills and promoting the importance of looking after these places along the way.

If I'm not out guiding or running with Mynydd Du Fell Running Club, you will probably find me exploring the mountains with my best adventure buddy/daughter Lily, son Ray, dog Bryn and wife Nicola.

If I'm not with them, I'm probably climbing at a crag with Paul or the Brecon Beacons Climbing & Mountaineering Club.

I have always had a huge passion for exploring from a young age. Myself and my family would spend most Sundays walking up mountains and through woodland in beautiful South Wales.

My real passion for the mountains sparked in 2012 when I completed the national 3 peaks for charity with a small group of friends and family. Since then I have been completely hooked on setting goals and challenges.

Over the last 10 years I have completed a number of events such as triathlons, marathons, ultra marathons and IronMan wales. To excel my knowledge further in this field I went on to qualify as a personal trainer, sports massage therapist and spend a lot of time studying the geology and wildlife in the areas I explore.

I've also discovered a huge passion for rock climbing over the last few years, even though time is not always available, my bag is always packed ready for the next adventure.

For me working in the outdoors gives me the opportunity to show people the beautiful places we have in our country, share knowledge of the area and help build peoples confidence to go exploring themselves.

I'm Bryn (it means hill in Welsh), the mountain dog.

I'm the most handsome instructor at M&L. You will see me out on most events helping clients with their adventures and their lunch.

You can follow all of my adventures on our social media channels.
