ABOUT US
Since 2018, M&L Outdoors have been providing guided hiking challenges, indoor climbing experiences, DofE expeditions and fell running in UK upland areas.
We are based in the incredible Brecon Beacons National Park and spend most of our time out hiking, running, climbing and cycling - always seeking a new adventure.
We love being able to take people to wild places, give new experiences and pass on skills - this was the foundation for starting our business.
This area of the website hopes to give clients a little taste of what we offer and our experience so you can rest easy knowing you are in our capable hands.

BRETT MAHONEY

Our lead instructor and co-founder of M&L Outdoors - Brett has a background in delivering outdoor education programmes to children and young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD) and the assessing of DofE groups.
As well as running M&L Outdoors, Brett is the Gwent Outdoor Activity Development Officer for The Outdoor Partnership, a registered charity that improves people's lives through outdoor activity. Brett has also recently become a probationary member of Longtown Mountain Rescue Team, covering the Black Mountains area of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Brett's main passion, is ultra distance fell running, currently holding the fastest known time for Rownd Mynydd Du - Black Mountains Round (completed in winter conditions!), and the Winter South Wales Traverse.
A qualified Mountain Leader, Climbing Wall Instructor, Mountain Bike Leader, Leader in Running Fitness and DofE Assessor, Brett enjoys guiding and coaching people to achieve their goals in the mountains.
If he's not out guiding or running or climbing, you will probably find him exploring the mountains with his best adventure buddy/daughter Lily, son Ray, dog Bryn and wife Nicola.
NICOLA MAHONEY
It may have taken 5 years, but we finally have Nicola on board!
Nicola deals with the admin and logisitics side of M&L Outdoors, however you will occasionally see her out on the hill with us (especially if we have managed to wangle some childcare for the day!)
Nicola is also a youth worker and has a background in expedition supervising for Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions. She has completed some big days in the mountains herself, as well as supporting others to do so.
Nicola has recently discovered an interest in rock climbing, and is working towards her Climbing Wall Instructor qualification.
BRYN
I'm Bryn (it means hill in Welsh), the mountain dog.
I'm the most handsome instructor at M&L. You will see me out on most events helping clients with their adventures and their lunch.
